“I am a foodie” and there is no doubt about it. My love for food in my earlier days motivated me to pursue a career in the food industry. Over the years through my profession, I have been introduced to a lot of cuisines from different parts of the world. My craving for food has triggered a new found hobby in me i.e. “Cooking”. I enjoy every minute spent in the kitchen producing traditional and fusion dishes from around the world.
I have a simple motto in life “If you can eat it, so can I” and this has led me into experimenting with a lot of common and exotic ingredients in the food industry.
The photographer in me works on the creative presentation of the dishes, that I produce in my tiny kitchen. My peers used to always say “what looks good, tastes even better”.

    – Mandos (my mom used to make it with broken rice)

    Thanks for the recipe, it was fantastic, it reminded my husband of his time in Goa, reminiscing of the good times. Any chance you would have a recipe for Prawn samar curry, some call it samarachi code, my grandmother used to send us the spice mix and all we had to add to it was the coconut juice – milk.

    Hi Alves – love your recipes and have made quite a few of them. I follow you on Facebook too. I wonder if I may suggest making the recipes printable easily? The photos are lovely but make it difficult to print the recipe and a lot of cutting and pasting needed. Thank you

      Its done in a step by step way with pictures as it becomes easy for folks to see them and follow. There is a printable version on the blog you could use that and thanks for the feedback.

    Please give me the Aren/Alen recipe. It was like a thick masala ball , guess it was done with roasted onion and sweetish…. yummy.Was served with plain rice and side dishes

    I have tried the beef curry…simply delicious. I can’t wait to try the rest of the recipes. Can you also post the recipe for Goan sausages? I do make them but feel that something is missing.

      Try and use kerala matta rice this goes well with only parboiled rice.

  32. Hi Alves, I visited the Mapusa market recently, there a lady sold me a fish that she told me was called ‘Ponne’. She had made diagonal slits all along the length of the fish and told me that it was best in a curry. I did make a curry and it was quite tasty, but nobody seems to know what the name of this fish is. Can you help me? Thank you.
