Galmo Cutlets / Fresh baby shrimp Cutlets

Galmo Patties - Fresh baby shrimps Patties


2 ½ Cup Galmo (Fresh baby shrimps)

Ingredients to grind:

4 – 5 Sprigs of coriander leaves

3 – 4 Green Chilies (pic shows 2 but I finally added 2 more)

7 cloves

½ teaspoon Cumin

4 – 5 Cloves of garlic

½ inch ginger

¼ teaspoon turmeric

1 inch cinnamon stick

20 – 22 peppercorns


Other Ingredients

1 Large onion finely chopped

1 cup semolina / rawa

Salt to taste

Oil as required

½ teaspoon vinegar or lime

One pinch of sugar


1 Take a kadai / pot and boil the galmo with little salt, till it becomes dry.


2 Keep the galmo for cooling in a mixing bowl.


3 Grind the masala to a smooth paste.

4 Take a kadai and sauté the onion till they turn translucent.

5 Now add the masala and cook for a while till the raw smell goes.


6 Add the cooked masala to the galmo and mix.

7 Add one egg, vinegar and sugar to the galmo and mix.


8 Check salt to taste.

9 Take the required quantity of galmo in the hand and make a ball.

10 Roll the ball in the semolina / rawa.


11 Take it back in the hand and shape it into cutlets.


12 Add oil to a pan and fry the cutlets till they turn golden brown.
